Sr. Staff Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will design, implement, and manage Linux and Windows server platforms across on-prem and hybrid environments to support manufacturing IT. You will lead virtualization, storage, and automation initiatives while partnering with cross-functional teams to meet business needs. You’ll shape core infrastructure using modern DevOps tooling and HashiCorp technologies to improve reliability and observability. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on scalable, secure systems in a fast-paced environment. Compensation / Benefits * Architect, implement, and maintain highly available Linux/Windows server platforms across on-prem and cloud (hybrid) environments * Manage and optimize hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and enterprise storage platforms for performance and resilience * Design and operate HashiCorp Consul, Nomad, Vault, and Boundary in production * Standardize configuration management with Ansible and infrastructure provisioning with Terraform * Build automation tooling in Python (and Bash/PowerShell) to improve observability and reduce toil * Develop scripts and playbooks for Linux, Windows, Ansible * Plan server migrations and new deployments with cross-functional teams * Monitor server and application performance; advise on hardware upgrades and tuning * Engage 3rd-party vendors for expedient resolutions * Create and maintain system documentation including runbooks, specs, and logs Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of system engineering experience (MS + 6+ years) * Public cloud knowledge and APIs * 8+ years Linux experience * 8+ years VMware/virtual server experience with vSphere, vMotion * 4+ years of DevOps experience * Proficiency in Python * 4+ years of Ansible experience * 4+ years of enterprise storage experience (NFS/SMB/CIFS; QNAP, Pure, HPE, NetApp) * Advanced knowledge of Active Directory (Group Policy, DNS, replication) * Information Security best practices awareness * Strong documentation and communication skills * LPIC1 certification is a notable plus Key requirements * Competitive base salary * Performance-based annual bonus eligibility * 401(k) retirement savings plan * Tuition reimbursement * Medical, dental, and vision coverage * Paid time off and holidays
