Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. TEST SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Integration and test engineers to create robust testing process that meet the needs of the production environment
- Support production floor to meet deliverables required to meet the launch manifest
- Design fixtures and adaptors needed to perform tests
- Setup and checkout of test hardware and instrumentation
- Execute and run tests (hydraulic, pneumatic proof, leak, thermal and electrical tests) as required on flight and ground support hardware
- Document results and partner with engineering to review
- Setup and checkout of test hardware and instrumentation
- Assist in the design and fabrication of small and large test fixtures, test setups, and test stands
- Independently fabricate instrumentation and wire harnesses for ground support electro-mechanical test equipment and spaceflight harnesses that connect to test articles
- Maintain cleanliness and order in machine shop ensuring components are stocked and cleanliness is a priority
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of experience working in a hands-on position

1+ years of experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge/experience with actuators, plumbing (hydraulic/pneumatic - both set up and operation of these systems)
- Knowledge/experience with pressure systems - hydraulic, pneumatic, cryogenic (gaseous and liquid)
- Experience in research & development or other fast-paced technical environment
- Experience with test operations procedures including hydraulic load control, hydro/pneumatic pressure control, and safe handling of flight parts
- Ability to read electro-mechanical schematics to accomplish checkouts
- Ability to troubleshoot programs and systems and determine root causes and implement fixes
- Ability to install and use test instrumentation sensors, including: strain gages, deflection gages, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, and analog circuitry
- Ability to fabricate and repair cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping, assembling connectors
- Ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and blueprints
- Strong computer skillset, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), navigation and file manipulation
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision on tight schedules

Ability to take project goals inputs and works towards that end-goal beyond individual task assignment ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, lift, and carry equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to work at elevated heights occasionally (scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts)
- Ability to work in outdoor environments as needed.
- Ability to travel for short trips as needed, up to 5% travel.
