Fullstack Software Engineer II, Flights

Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer II on Navan’s Flights team, you will build and scale the core engine powering flight search, booking, payment, and expense workflows. You’ll work within a high-throughput, globally distributed backend to deliver fast, reliable experiences for millions of users. You collaborate with product, design, and engineering leads to translate complex requirements into robust, scalable solutions. This role offers impact through mission-critical travel services and opportunities to advance backend craftsmanship at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency APIs and backend microservices for flight search, booking, and payments * Own end-to-end features from architecture and data modeling to production deployment and monitoring * Build fault-tolerant systems with automated testing, observability, alerts, and telemetry for maximum uptime * Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions * Participate in code reviews, contribute to shared frameworks, and promote engineering best practices * Evaluate new technologies to modernize the backend stack and architecture Tasks * 3-5 years of backend software development experience with shipping production-grade applications * Strong CS fundamentals and clean API design principles * End-to-end ownership mindset with high-quality code, tests, monitoring, and documentation * Ability to break down complex domain problems into modular, maintainable code * Clear, proactive cross-functional communication * Proficiency in Java and hands-on experience with Spring / Spring Boot and Hibernate/ORMs * Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS using microservice architectures * Familiarity with event-driven architectures, caching, relational databases, and distributed state Key requirements *
