Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Data Operations team. This role is ideal for a proactive, hands-on SQL professional with deep expertise in SQL Server administration, database performance tuning, high availability architectures, and automation. The successful candidate will support mission-critical database environments, ensure optimal system performance and availability, and partner closely with development, infrastructure, and application teams across both project initiatives and production support., On a daily basis, this individual will monitor and manage SQL Server environments supporting critical business applications. They will proactively identify performance bottlenecks, optimize T-SQL code and database configurations, and resolve production issues before they impact end users. The DBA will work closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to support deployments, manage high-availability environments, automate routine operational tasks through PowerShell, and ensure databases remain secure, scalable, and highly available. This role will also play a key part in modernization efforts and strategic database initiatives while serving as a senior technical resource for troubleshooting and production support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Production SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

  • Strong expertise with T-SQL programming, including:

  • Complex query development

  • Query optimization and performance tuning

  • Troubleshooting blocking, deadlocks, and database performance issues

  • Ability to demonstrate SQL proficiency live by writing T-SQL queries, DMVs, and troubleshooting solutions during technical discussions

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for:

  • Database backups and restores

  • Index maintenance

  • Automated database deployments

  • Monitoring and reporting

  • Failed job management

  • Experience utilizing Redgate tools for database monitoring, health checks, and performance optimization

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Always On Availability Groups

  • SQL Server Clustering

  • Database Failovers

  • Transactional Replication

Ability to support after-hours releases, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to production incidents
