One of the key components of that is modernizing the day-to-day operations through scheduling and automation. Day to day tasks: Primary Responsibilities Administer, maintain, and support the IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) environment on IBM mainframe systems. Monitor daily workload processing to ensure scheduled jobs, job streams, and dependencies execute successfully and within established service levels. Configure, schedule, and manage batch workloads across enterprise applications and platforms. Analyze and resolve job failures, scheduling conflicts, resource contention issues, and workload bottlenecks. Perform workload forecasting, capacity planning, and schedule optimization to improve operational efficiency. Create, modify, and maintain job definitions, calendars, run cycles, workstations, and job streams. Support production batch processing, including incident response, troubleshooting, and recovery activities. Coordinate with application teams, system programmers, database administrators, and business units to implement scheduling requirements. Manage workload dependencies between mainframe and distributed systems. Develop and maintain scheduling standards, procedures, and operational documentation. Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and workload restoration activities. Ensure compliance with organizational security, change management, and audit requirements. Utilize IBM Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) to monitor, manage, and administer enterprise workloads. Configure and maintain DWC dashboards, monitoring views, alerts, and reporting functions. Troubleshoot workload execution issues using DWC monitoring and diagnostic tools. Support end users and operations staff in the use of DWC scheduling and monitoring capabilities. Implement and maintain workload automation policies using DWC administrative functions. Generate workload status, performance, and operational reports for management and technical teams. Technical Support and Administration Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of IBM Workload Scheduler components. Manage scheduling agents, communication links, and workload automation infrastructure. Support integration between IWS and enterprise applications, databases, and middleware platforms. Implement workload automation best practices to improve reliability, availability, and performance. Conduct root cause analysis for recurring scheduling issues and recommend corrective actions. Participate in system testing, application deployments, and production implementation activities.
