Job description

As a BMS Applications Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design, configuration, commissioning and ongoing support of Building Management Systems that control critical building services, including HVAC, lighting and energy management. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, clients and commissioning teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from software configuration and graphics development through to commissioning, optimisation and final handover., * Design and configure Building Management Systems for commercial and critical infrastructure projects.

  • Program and develop control strategies for HVAC systems.
  • Configure BMS software, graphics, supervisor layouts and point commissioning.
  • Integrate systems using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and KNX.
  • Carry out commissioning, fault finding and live system diagnostics.
  • Optimise system performance and improve energy efficiency.
  • Produce and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, clients and commissioning teams throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, Health & Safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Promote consistency and standardisation across all project documentation and delivery.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within Building Services, Electrical Engineering or Building Management Systems.
  • Qualified Electricians looking to move into a BMS career are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous BMS experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations and controls.
  • Experience working within commercial buildings or critical environments is desirable.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Project.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of BMS platforms such as Distech, Niagara, Trend, Metasys or Tridium.
  • Experience working within Data Centres or Financial Institutions.
  • First Aid, SSSTS or SMSTS.
  • Understanding of contractual procedures within the construction industry.

Skills

  • Strong technical and analytical ability.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
