Job description

  • Design, develop, and enhance Embedded Linux software for next-generation EV charge controllers.
  • Design and implement communication interfaces and electromobility and IoT standards and protocols, like OCPP, ISO 15118, EEBus, and Modbus TCP.
  • Analyze customer, market, and regulatory requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions.

  • Act as a technical interface towards customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, supporting technical discussions, solution design, and integration activities.

  • Collaborate with EVSE manufacturers, backend providers, and technology partners to ensure interoperability and successful product integration.
  • Support architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and strategic technical decisions.
  • Contribute and follow cybersecurity-by-design practices, software quality, test automation, and robust software update mechanisms throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and drive root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification.
  • Proven professional experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong expertise in Embedded Linux development and cross-compilation environments.
  • Solid programming skills in Rust and modern C++.
  • Experience implementing communication protocols and networked systems.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
  • Exerience working in agile product development environments.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong English skills; German language skills are beneficial. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in EV charging, charging infrastructure, or energy management systems.
  • Practical experience with OCPP, ISO 15118, EEBus, or comparable industry standards.
  • Understanding of Charge Controller architectures and EVSE systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for connected products.
  • Experience with cloud backends, APIs, and service-oriented architectures (e.g., gRPC).
  • Experience with kernel-level development or Linux kernel modules.
  • Programming experience in Python or Java.
  • Knowledge of Smart Charging, Grid Integration, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), or Vehicle-to-Home (V2H).
