Job description

We are seeking a customer-facing Application Engineer to support OEM customers from initial application discussions through proposal, validation, and production. This position works with customers, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Operations to develop customized thermal management solutions that meet technical and commercial requirements.

Direct cooling or thermal management experience is preferred but not required. We are open to strong Applications Engineers with experience supporting OEM or industrial customers who are interested in learning the thermal management business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions with OEM and industrial customers.
  • Gather customer requirements and define application specifications.
  • Select and size components based on performance requirements.
  • Develop system-level application recommendations.
  • Support quotations, proposals, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, validation, and prototype testing.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and customer training.
  • Support customer visits, testing, and project reviews.
  • Work with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations.
  • Coordinate multiple customer projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain application documentation and technical records.
  • Travel approximately 20-40% to customer locations throughout North America.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Application Engineering, Technical Sales Engineering, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience supporting OEM, industrial, data center, power generation, or other technical customers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into practical engineered solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20-40% (weekday travel, M-W or M-Th)

  • Thermal management or cooling systems.
  • Heat exchangers, radiators, oil coolers, or liquid cooling systems.
  • Data center infrastructure or cooling.
  • Diesel engines, generators, or power generation equipment.
  • Mobile equipment, off-highway equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Mechanical systems or fluid systems.
  • Hydraulics, pumps, valves, filtration, or other engineered products.
  • Product selection, sizing, quoting, or proposal development.
  • DFMEA, validation, testing, or prototype development.

Salary: $75,000 - $120,000 per year
