Job description
The Helpdesk Technician, Media Services, reporting to the Director of Media Services, oversees equipment maintenance, equipment delivery, setup and breakdown for on-campus events, classroom systems, faculty/staff needs, and extracurricular activities. Assist Media Services director with a diverse range of responsibilities that include (but are not limited to) being in consistent communication with Eastern University’s Conferences Department regarding upcoming needs and requests, providing oversight for all student worker scheduling and training, and organizing equipment setups for various campus activities/tasks. Additionally, the position will aid and support the other Helpdesk Technicians with PC/Mac technical support duties, as well as monitor the Eastern University Helpdesk queue and assist as required.
Position Responsibilities
- Work with Media Services Director with video/audio recording of specific on-campus events
- Provide timely delivery and handling of all departmental equipment to classrooms, conference events, and student events including, but not limited to: summer conference groups, Weekly Chapel, Windows on the World, Board of Directors meetings, convocations, commencement, move-in events, homecoming, and events.
- Excel in understanding and operating all university sound and video equipment, digital and analog, including the McInnis Auditorium, Clemens Recital Hall, gymnasium, and portable systems for various activities/events
- Understand and operate the gymnasium digital display and sound system for various activities/events
- Understand and operate auditorium lighting for various activities/events
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and dispose of Eastern University audio/visual equipment across campus
- Oversee setup breakdown, return, and proper storage of all equipment after use.
- Provide PC /MAC desktop/help desk support. (PC/Mac troubleshooting, password changes, equipment moves, equipment deployment, software installation and assisting in the unloading of freight relevant to the Helpdesk etc.)
- Support digital signage on campus. Train other Helpdesk Technicians to support this technology
- Work with Live Media Specialist for multi-camera events or other assistance as needed.
- Assist Live Media Specialist with setting up Zoom equipment for large events and meetings.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Some weekend and evening hours will be required including, but not limited to: homecoming, commencement, move-in week events, Admission events and other various special events and lectures.
- Involvement in the interviewing, hiring, training and supervision of all Media Services student workers
- Create and oversee all student worker scheduling
- Oversee student workers in the delivery of equipment for all on-campus activities.

Status: Full-time, salaried, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and become expert in the use of all university A/V equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of audio/visual equipment, sound reinforcement skills including proper placement, setup & wiring of portable sound/video equipment.
- Knowledge of basic audio/visual cables and connectors including VGA, DVI, HDMI, XLR, BNC, RCA, SDI and Speakon.
- Knowledge of basic desktop support services.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a university van license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required; ability to read and comprehend service manuals for Media Services equipment, set proper sound levels for events; demonstrated knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, HTML, audio\visual editing software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems., 2) FBI Criminal Record Check;
3) Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance and;

Part-time Regular staff who are scheduled 30-36 hours per week over the course of a year, receive a full benefit package based on their part-time scheduled hours. Adjunct faculty may be eligible for medical coverage under the ACA after an annual one year lookback review.
Part-time staff who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week schedule are eligible for employer contribution towards the retirement plan after one year of employment. Eligibility rules apply. Adjunct faculty may make employee deferral contributions towards the retirement plan.
Part-Time Graduate Assistant Coaches are eligible for participation in the Tuition Remission Coaches Program.
Temporary, Contractors and Seasonal Employees: Individuals in this status are scheduled on an as-needed-basis and are not eligible for participation in the University’s benefits programs.
