Job description
We are looking for a senior data leader who can combine strategic direction with hands-on data architecture. Following recent acquisitions and continued digital transformation, you will design and deliver a scalable data landscape that strengthens decision-making, improves operational performance and supports HSL Compliance’s growth.
What You’ll Do
· Define and deliver a comprehensive data strategy aligned with HSL Compliance’s growth and EBITDA objectives.
· Establish a robust data governance framework and data catalogue, covering quality standards, master data management and UK GDPR-compliant security controls.
· Lead data migration and integration for the new ERP system, customer portal and wider Group solutions.
· Design a modern, scalable cloud data architecture, ideally using the Microsoft Azure stack.
· Consolidate data from scheduling platforms, laboratory results, field inspections and other operational systems.
· Develop dimensional data models that support real-time reporting, historical analysis and reliable business insight.
· Build and oversee Power BI dashboards that give the Senior Leadership Team clear insight into performance and profitability.
· Identify responsible opportunities to use AI in support of the wider Group AI strategy.
· Work with the Technology and Consultancy Director to develop data-led client services and deeper compliance insight.
· Partner with IT, Finance, Operations and People teams to protect data integrity across the employee and customer lifecycle.
· Promote data literacy and embed a practical, data-first culture across regional and operational teams.
Requirements
· At least 5-7 years’ experience in data architecture or leading a data function, ideally within a field-service, environmental or compliance-led organisation.
· Strong expertise across the Microsoft data stack, including Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Synapse and Power BI.
· Practical knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines, API integrations and cloud-based data architecture.
· Experience supporting ERP implementations, such as Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite or a comparable platform.
· Sound knowledge of data governance, data quality, master data management and UK GDPR requirements.
· Experience developing dimensional data models and delivering dependable reporting and analytics.
· The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear commercial outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.
· A collaborative leadership style, with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
