Staff Solutions Architect

We are looking for an experienced Staff Solution Architect to take ownership of the cloud platform that underpins our growing suite of products and services.

This is a senior individual contributor role with significant influence across our technology landscape. You’ll be responsible for shaping and evolving our AWS infrastructure, ensuring it remains secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective while supporting the needs of a modern multi-tenant SaaS platform.

Working closely with engineering teams, you’ll set standards, guide best practice and provide technical leadership across infrastructure, deployment, observability and platform architecture. You’ll also work alongside AI-assisted development tools, applying your expertise and judgement to review and improve infrastructure solutions., * Own and develop our AWS cloud platform and infrastructure strategy.

• Design, implement and maintain infrastructure as code and automated deployment processes.
• Ensure platform security, reliability, scalability and resilience across all environments.
• Lead on cloud architecture, networking, identity management and platform configuration.
• Develop and enhance observability through monitoring, logging, alerting and performance insights.
• Drive best practice around infrastructure governance, operational excellence and disaster recovery.
• Optimise cloud expenditure through effective cost management and FinOps principles.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and product teams to support the successful delivery of technology solutions.
• Review and validate infrastructure changes generated through AI-assisted development tools.

You’ll be a highly experienced cloud and infrastructure professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and influencing engineering direction through expertise and collaboration., * Significant hands-on experience designing and operating AWS cloud environments.

• Strong knowledge of services including container platforms, databases, networking, CDN technologies and identity management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CDK or similar.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Expertise in cloud security, resilience, scalability and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing and supporting multi-tenant platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, code review and technical governance skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and influence stakeholders without direct management responsibility.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
• Knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js environments.
• Security, compliance or governance experience within education or other regulated sectors.
• Experience working with AI-assisted infrastructure and development tooling.
• Familiarity with incident management, SRE principles and on-call practices.
