Platform Engineer

Experteer Overview As a Platform Engineer at Monzo, you will help build and operate the shared cloud infrastructure that underpins our technology stack. You’ll split time between platform/infrastructure engineering and software/backend work, focusing on scalable services and self-service tooling for engineers. You’ll work with Kubernetes, AWS and GCP, Terraform, and open-source components to empower other teams. The role supports Monzo’s growth from 10 to 20 million customers and broader product expansion with reliability and developer experience at heart. This is a hands-on, collaborative role in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Pay / Benefits * Maintain and enhance foundational infrastructure and tooling * Operate Kubernetes clusters, AWS, and Terraform-based configurations * Integrate open-source components to provide scalable primitives * Build backend services and APIs to expose self-service infrastructure * Support infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, and security tooling * Collaborate with other platform teams to enable faster, safer engineering delivery Tasks * Solid software development foundation * Cloud and container experience (AWS and/or GCP, Kubernetes) * Automation and IaC experience (Terraform) * Strong curiosity about distributed systems and failure modes * Platform mindset focused on reliability, performance, and developer experience * Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Key requirements * base salary 65,000-80,000 * incentive awards tied to performance * flexible working hours * learning budget 1,000 per year * distributed working within the UK * London office access with support for travel costs
