Senior Agentic AI Engineer - Public Cloud / SAP BTP

Our product landscape is evolving rapidly toward AI-native solutions with intelligent features, automated workflows, and agentic systems deeply embedded in our cloud architectures. To ensure these innovations move beyond experimentation and can be operated at scale, reliably, and economically, we need strong AI engineering expertise. As a Senior Agentic AI Engineer - Public Cloud, you will translate AI concepts into production reality. You will develop AI-powered features, integrate LLM and AI services into microservices architectures, build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, and ensure they operate securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. By doing so, you will enable reliable, market-ready AI capabilities within our SAP BTP and public cloud products while accelerating our transformation toward AI-native SaaS systems. Your impact in the first 12-18 months

1. You will develop AI-powered product features and integrate LLM services (e.g., SAP AI Core, Azure OpenAI) through well-designed API interfaces. You will build RAG-based solutions that leverage both structured and unstructured data, ensuring they run within scalable, production-grade architectures.
2. You will implement AI services within microservices environments, address multi-tenancy requirements, and establish event-driven integration patterns. At the same time, you will ensure AI capabilities are robust, maintainable, and operationally stable.
3. You will embed observability into AI solutions through logging, monitoring, output validation, and guardrails. Additionally, you will drive cost-efficient AI usage through token optimization, scaling strategies, and resource-efficient model integration.
4. In collaboration with the Director AI Engineering and the Technical Architect - Public Cloud, you will further develop AI engineering standards, mentor fellow engineers, and actively shape best practices across the engineering organization.

• Several years of experience in modern cloud and software development (Node.js / cloud-native)
• Experience integrating AI services or LLMs into production systems
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with SAP BTP or comparable platforms
• Knowledge of RAG patterns, prompt engineering, and AI service integration
• Understanding of scalability, observability, and cost models in cloud environments
• Structured and solution-oriented way of working
