Job description

Join our team building the Statista Connect API - a high-performance, customer-facing API delivering data at scale. We need a senior engineer who takes ownership, works independently, and leads by example. You’ll be at the center of our data platform, collaborating with multiple teams while driving technical decisions that impact millions of users.

Your tasks

  • Design and build scalable, customer-facing APIs using Rust and TypeScript (AWS Lambda)
  • Own data modeling, data flows, and API reliability across our AWS infrastructure
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK) and drive CI/CD improvements
  • Collaborate with data, search, and product teams to advance our API products
  • Mentor colleagues and shape technical direction through strong judgment and communication

Requirements

  • 3+ years building scalable backend systems and APIs
  • Strong experience with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS) and AWS CDK
  • Solid programming in Rust, TypeScript, or similar languages (C/C++, Python)
  • Experience designing APIs for external customers
  • Ownership mindset: you anticipate problems, work independently, and communicate proactively
  • Comfortable with Docker, Git, testing, and fast-moving environments
  • Nice to have: Rust in production, event-driven architectures, DynamoDB, AI/ML experience
