Experteer Overview In this role you will help build high-quality, customer-facing front-end applications within the Experience Solutions team at Principal. You will work across technologies including React, APIs, and event-driven architectures on AWS, with some Java-based components. You’ll own features end to end, collaborate with engineers and product partners, and grow your skills in a modern Agile environment. Your work will focus on improving customer experience, scalability, and performance, contributing to Principal’s mission to make financial security accessible to all. Compensation / Benefits * Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business partners to build customer-facing front-end applications that drive business outcomes * Own features end to end, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and maintenance * Tackle increasingly complex problems to improve customer experience, platform scalability, and system performance * Take on growingly complex work, learn quickly, incorporate feedback, and improve solution quality * Participate in pairing, mob programming, and design discussions to strengthen team outcomes * Contribute to technical design and build deep expertise in at least one area of the front-end codebase with mentorship * Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve productivity, testing, and code quality * Follow established engineering, security, and quality standards while exploring new tools and practices Tasks * 2+ years of engineering experience with full-stack exposure * Experience building user interfaces with React or similar JavaScript frameworks * Experience with API or event-driven applications in TypeScript or Java * Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills * Desire to learn new technology and continuously grow Key requirements * Flexible Time Off (FTO) * Pension eligible * Hybrid/work-from-office options * In-office locations: Des Moines, IA; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC * Competitive benefits package * Salary ranges and career level transparency
