Job description
We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Business Technology team in Ireland. In this pivotal role, you will act as a technical lead across the Workday ecosystem, bridging the gap between Core HCM, specialized functional modules (Benefits & Compensation), and Payroll systems. You will spearhead complex backend integrations for one or more of these functional areas while being responsible for the full implementation lifecycle-from architectural design and configuration to automated testing and deployment-ensuring our HR technology stack is scalable, secure, and seamless., System Architecture & Configuration
- Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of Workday modules, specifically Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation and Payroll while supporting tenant and Security protocols
- Manage Tenant architecture, conducting regular system audits to ensure data integrity, security compliance, and optimal performance
- Stay ahead of Workday releases; analyze new features (including Workday Extend and Orchestration) and recommend enhancements to drive business value
Integration & Development
- Design and build robust integrations between Workday and third-party enterprise applications using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors (CCB), Orchestrations, Workday Extend and Web Services (SOAP/REST)
- Develop complex custom reports and calculated fields; utilize BIRT for document transformation and XSLT for data transformation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, IT, HR) to translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable solutions
Quality Assurance & Automation
- Define and execute comprehensive test strategies, including unit, system, and regression testing
- Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using tools such as Kainos to reduce manual overhead
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, tracking defects to resolution and participating in code reviews to ensure best practices
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in Workday implementation, engineering, or systems analysis
- Proven experience of full-lifecycle Workday implementations
- Deep Integration Expertise: Workday Integration Orchestration, Extend, Studio, EIB, Cloud Connect (CCB), PECI/PICOF, XSLT, and XML
- Strong working knowledge of Web Services (SOAP, REST) and relational database languages (WQL or SQL)
- Advanced skills in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, and BIRT
- Experience with testing automation tools (specifically Kainos) and manual testing methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of Workday HCM or Benefits or Compensation or Payroll architecture and business processes
- Solid understanding of Workday Security (Security Groups, Domains, BP Policies)
- Workday Certification in one or more HCM functional modules (Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll) is required
- Workday Certification in Integrations, Studio and/or Extend are required, * Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, Recruiting, Talent, Advanced Compensation, Time tracking & Absence
- Familiarity with Version Control (GIT), CI/CD systems
- Mulesoft development experience
- Experience working in software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service architectures and/or industry
