Staff Software Engineer - FinOps

Experteer Overview In this role you drive the design and delivery of high-quality software while mentoring engineers. You’ll partner with Product Managers and Architecture to align technical work with Grainger’s strategic goals and FinOps objectives. You’ll lead engineering initiatives across multi-cloud environments and foster a culture of continuous learning. This position blends hands-on development with architectural leadership to solve complex business problems at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Lead a team delivering maintainable, high-quality software for complex applications * Act as technical lead for FinOps initiatives across multi-cloud tooling, APIs, and data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) * Shape engineering practices to support continuous delivery and sensible defaults * Lead knowledge-sharing and coaching sessions to elevate team capabilities * Maintain production software, triage issues, and mentor developers * Collaborate with IT Management and domain leaders to ensure design and delivery of cloud cost accountability solutions Tasks * 5+ years of software engineering experience * Proficiency in full-stack and API development including RESTful APIs * Strong AWS architecture experience and hands-on cloud governance knowledge * Experience with distributed system design and integration patterns * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence * Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevOps practices * Experience with AI/ML concepts or AI tooling is a plus * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in computer science Key requirements * Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance from day one * 18 PTO days + 6 holidays * 6% 401(k) company match * Tuition reimbursement and student loan assistance * Financial counseling and tools * Maternity and parenting leave
