Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you advance networked and distributed quantum computing by shaping architectures, software, and workflows that connect quantum devices with classical systems. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team leveraging Argonne’s quantum capabilities and HPC resources to drive high-impact research and broadly useful software. You’ll establish independent research directions and collaborate across institutions on sponsored programs. You will mentor early researchers and contribute to a collaborative scientific culture focused on impact and integrity. This is a chance to help scale quantum networking across research and national programs. Compensation / Benefits * Conduct independent and collaborative research in quantum networking, distributed quantum computing, quantum-system architectures, or related areas * Develop models, algorithms, and simulation software for design and evaluation of networked quantum systems * Investigate system-level challenges in architectures, protocols, resource management, scheduling, and integration of quantum and classical resources * Formulate new research directions and contribute to proposals and externally funded programs * Publish findings and communicate results through various channels and artifacts * Build collaborations across disciplines and provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams * Mentor students, postdocs, and junior staff and foster a collegial research culture Tasks * Ph.D. in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field, plus at least 4 years of relevant research experience * Demonstrated research contributions in quantum networking, distributed quantum computing, quantum computer systems or architectures, quantum-network simulation, computer networks or distributed systems, or performance modeling * Ability to define and pursue significant research directions with substantial independence * Record of peer-reviewed publications, software, datasets, patents, or similar artifacts * Evidence of professional visibility such as invited talks, widely used software, leadership in collaborative research, or awards * Experience developing research software using Python, C, or C++ * Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate results clearly * Alignment with Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity and teamwork Key requirements *
