Job description

The Data Governance Specialist provides senior-level advisory support to the Government Product Owner Lead and ensures alignment between mission requirements and enterprise data management activities. The incumbent serves as the authoritative technical resource for data governance, cataloging, and enterprise data modeling, and ensures contractor-delivered solutions adhere to Data and AI Governance policies, standards, and objectives.

Strategic Leadership and Product Owner Advisory

  • Serves as the primary strategic advisor to the Government Product Owner Lead, translating mission needs into technical standards, architectural guardrails, and acceptance criteria for vendor/contractor-developed solutions that support enterprise data management activities.
  • Conducts comprehensive reviews, validations, and audits of contractor technical deliverables to ensure compliance with mission goals and established Data and AI Governance frameworks.
  • Functions as the principal technical subject matter expert (SME), providing authoritative guidance to resolve issues among the government program office, security and compliance teams, and third-party development teams. Data Governance and Cataloging

  • Reviews enterprise metadata standards and develops or refines data governance workflows to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Evaluates vendor/contractor-developed implementations within the enterprise data catalog to ensure the establishment of a cohesive, compliant, and highly discoverable authoritative data environment.
  • Defines, documents, and enforces enterprise-wide access control policies and data-sharing requirements applicable to all implementing teams.
  • Enterprise Data Modeling
  • Reviews vendor/contractor-generated data models and system integration mappings using data modeling methodologies and tools to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
  • Drafts integration standards, migration procedures, and onboarding playbooks to support secure and scalable ingestion and modernization of legacy datasets.

  • Demonstrated experience in Data Governance.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data Migration.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data Cataloging.

  • Experience with DataHub.
  • Experience with Collibra.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
