Job description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join an Agile Scrum team developing containerized Linux user-space applications and services for mission-critical land mobile radio communications products.

In this role, you will focus on writing high-quality modern Python services deployed in container environments and leveraging AI tools/technologies to accelerate development, while interfacing with and debugging existing C++ subsystems. You will apply solid Linux OS and networking fundamentals, leverage multiple automated testing frameworks, and work in an RF telecommunications context alongside modern CI/CD tooling., * Containerized Service Development: Design, implement, and maintain Linux user-space applications using modern Python constructs within containerized environments.

  • AI Tooling & Integration: Utilize approved AI-assisted development tools and integrate AI/ML capabilities or automated analytics into engineering workflows where applicable.
  • Linux OS & Networking: Develop networking applications utilizing socket programming, network protocol handling (TCP/IP, UDP), and Linux OS user-space interactions.
  • Automated Testing Ecosystem: Build and expand test suites for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • System Interfacing & Debugging: Read, interface with, and debug lower-level legacy or embedded C/C++ codebases and APIs.
  • RF & Telecommunications Context: Work with RF domain concepts, radio infrastructure, and network protocols during product integration.
  • CI/CD & Quality Assurance: Integrate code into automated build pipelines and enforce code quality standards using static analysis.
  • On-Site Lab Testing: Engage in hands-on testing, configuration, and debugging across virtualized environments and physical RF site equipment/network gear.

Requirements

  • Bachelors (BS) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with relevant software engineering experience, OR
  • Masters (MS) degree with relevant work experience.
  • Primary Language: Demonstrated proficiency in software development using modern Python.
  • Linux OS & Networking: Strong understanding of Linux operating system concepts, user-space architecture, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, sockets, network protocols).
  • Containers: Practical experience with Linux user-space development and containerization platforms.
  • Automated Testing: Hands-on experience automated testing frameworks.
  • C/C++ Knowledge: Ability to read, interface with, and debug C/C++ codebases.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Exposure to AI/ML tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, prompt engineering for developer tooling, or integration of AI APIs/frameworks).
  • Familiarity or background in RF / Telecommunications / Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and static code analysis tools.
  • Version control and task management using Git and Jira.
  • Experience with network diagnostic tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in a cross-functional team.

Work Model: On-Site.

Environment: Direct access to modern containerized Linux server environments alongside physical RF test lab facilities.
