Senior Database Developer

Experteer Overview In this Senior Database Developer role, you design, build, and optimize complex SQL Server databases to support CLA’s technology needs. You will split focus roughly 75% on development and 25% on DBA responsibilities, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable data solutions. You work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust data architectures and leverage cloud capabilities to improve performance and resilience. This position offers growth in a collaborative IT culture and exposure to modern cloud data services. Compensation / Benefits * Design, implement, and maintain complex SQL Server databases (schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures) * Create and optimize complex SQL queries, including stored procedures and functions * Manage database security, backups, and disaster recovery planning * Identify and troubleshoot performance and reliability issues; tune databases for optimal performance * Collaborate with software developers and stakeholders to meet data needs * Stay current with new technologies and vendor offerings in the database space * Document data design, data flows, dependencies, and integrations for support * Develop monitoring plans for proactive database support (on-prem and cloud) * Analyze data to identify performance gaps and propose solutions * Develop, document, and support disaster recovery planning and procedures * Maintain and improve overall database design and data integrity Tasks * 4 years of relevant experience * Bachelor’s degree (or combination of relevant experience, education, and training) * Minimum 3 years of SQL Server development on Azure cloud * Proficiency with SQL Server tools: SSMS, Azure Data Studio, Azure SQL Database * Experience with Azure services: Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Cosmos * Experience with database security, backup, and recovery procedures (Azure familiarity) * Strong T-SQL, database design, and optimization skills * Experience with performance tuning and complex queries and stored procedures * Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills Key requirements * health, dental, vision * 401k * wellness benefits * comprehensive benefit options * support for physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being
