Job description

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency. PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : Directs and manages the district Student Information System (SIS). Communicates with various outside agencies and internal departments to determine District needs as it relates to student information and state reporting. Leads and participates in the design, coding and implementation of computer and software systems to satisfy determined requirements and to maximize the utilization of the SIS. Coordinates creation of documentation for applications., 1. Manages the Student Information System to include, but not limited to: a. Student Data & Records Management i. Student information management ii. Online registration & enrollment iii. Special education data management iv. Health records management v. Portfolio/document storage b. Instructional & Academic Management i. Gradebook and report card management ii. Classroom tools & assignment management iii. Scheduling & course management iv. Attendance tracking v. Discipline & behavior tracking c. Reporting, Compliance & Analytics i. State & federal (PEIMS) reporting ii. Administrative reporting & analytics iii. Custom workflows & automation iv. End-of-year and new-year processing

  1. Strives to understand the entire scope of complex computer software systems.
  2. Conducts training programs for users as needed.
  3. Develops and maintains District reports that assist in making decisions to improve program effectiveness.
  4. Creates automated systems to maintain accurate records to allow campus and administrative personnel to pursue appropriate courses of action when problems are experienced.
  5. Evaluates state mandated programs for required reporting of data.
  6. Provides reports to identify academic needs of students.
  7. Comprehends oral and written communications from various outside agencies and internal departments.
  8. Develops workable team procedures.
  9. Responsible for the coordination and integration of the computer systems. This involves assigning tasks, training, evaluating, setting work priorities and establishing deadlines for the Systems Analysts.
  10. Designs and implements system changes that meet the determined needs of the user community. This requires advanced knowledge of the various components of system design and involves a great deal of creative problem-solving with a considerable amount of independent judgment.
  11. Writes technical specifications and provides detailed instruction for the documentation specialist to use in preparation of user documentation.
  12. Demonstrates software applications and instructs the help desk in proper software use.
  13. Provides leadership in addressing the technological challenges facing the profession.
  14. Maintains contact with current research and practice.
  15. Reads and interprets technical material.
  16. Works with minimum supervision.
  17. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  18. Occasionally required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
  19. Reports to work on time every day.
  20. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and five years related experience and/or training; or ten years experience Five years experience in a senior or supervisory position Eight years experience with applicable programming language, * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District
