Senior Site Reliability Engineer I

Experteer Overview As a member of Axon’s Platform team, you will drive the architectural direction for a Kubernetes-based, self-service platform that ingests, stores, and processes CCTV evidence and related data at scale. You’ll shape datastore patterns, automate infrastructure, and guide cross-team collaboration to improve reliability and performance for millions of users. This role combines hands-on platform work with strategic design decisions that enable rapid, safe innovation. You’ll contribute to a mission-driven culture that values candor, mentorship, and impact. Compensation / Benefits * Set technical direction across platform technologies and standardize datastore patterns * Lead long-term architectural decisions and standardization efforts * Design and build a Kubernetes-based platform for lifecycle management of core infrastructure * Collaborate with engineering teams to influence application design patterns for platform service usage * Build and operate a self-service platform delivering datastore solutions with best practices * Diagnose and resolve datastore performance bottlenecks with application teams * Conduct agentic coding workflows and implement infrastructure-as-code practices * Perform technical code reviews across the platform * Partner with teams to automate scaling, reliability, and automation vs buy vs borrow decisions Tasks * 7+ years of professional software engineering experience * Experience designing and operating complex distributed systems at scale * Deep experience with microservice architectures; migrating monoliths to microservices is a plus * Strong cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP) * Hands-on with observability tools (Grafana, Datadog, New Relic) * Familiarity with relational and NoSQL datastores (e.g., MySQL, Cassandra, PostgreSQL) * Experience with Kafka and message queue systems * Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform or Pulumi) * Proven ability to design and operate platform automation tooling or developer experience tooling * Experience with agentic AI tooling or building LLM-powered developer tools * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering Key requirements * Competitive salary and 401(k) with employer match * Discretionary paid time off * Paid parental leave for all parents * Medical, dental, and vision coverage * Fitness programs * Emotional and mental wellness support
