Network Engineer

Apex Systems is looking for a Senior Network Engineer located in the Greater Richmond Region. For any inquiries , please send resume’s to **, The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining enterprise network systems, including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and internet connectivity. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of the organization’s network infrastructure., * Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations

• Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and operational support for network systems
• Serve as a primary escalation point for network-related issues and tickets
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain connectivity across remote offices and systems
• Monitor network performance and respond proactively to alerts and incidents
• Configure and maintain firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and IDS/IPS systems
• Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise wireless networks, including 802.1X and RADIUS authentication
• Support light Windows and Linux server troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain QoS (Quality of Service) policies
• Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and procedures
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and help desk staff

• 7-10 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
• CCNA required; CCNP preferred
• Strong experience with network troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Wireshark
• Knowledge of network security standards (PCI, HIPAA, FIPS preferred)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto or other firewall platforms
• Experience with multicast routing
