Job description

Join our Connected Aviation - Air Traffic Solutions - Whole Life Engineering Department (ATS-WLE) for an exciting career development opportunity as a Software Engineer and Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development specialist. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of 50+ engineers representing several whole life engineering disciplines who support globally deployed Air Traffic Control (ATC) and related systems, including STARS, WAAS and JPALS, which provide vital safety-of-life air traffic management support for the FAA, for the DoD, and for international counterparts. Our systems enable seamless control and navigation for civil and military aviation. What You Will Do:

  • You will design, develop, integrate, and test elements of a successfully deployed IETM.

  • You will innovate solutions to challenging issues impacting real world IETM usage.

  • You will enhance all aspects of IETM implementation, including Consumer Off the Shelf (COTS) software and Interactive Courseware (ICW).

  • You will present solutions and technical details to important customer representatives and serve as a subject matter expert to support critical customer responsibilities.

  • You will work on hardware in a laboratory environment to verify procedures and software.

  • You will maintain documentation and oversee configuration management of source materials and changes for processes and software.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will learn details of leading edge IETM development and implementation, including tools and proven processes.

  • You will learn methods for IETM requirements implementation and verification.

  • You will learn processes for successful document generation and delivery.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

  • Must have prior experience in developing technical documentation, such as creating, editing, and maintaining comprehensive manuals or user guides for software applications or technical systems.

  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience developing and testing software in both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Experience working with object-oriented technology and programming languages, preferably Java.

  • Experience working with JavaScript.

  • Experience utilizing ClearQuest and/or Jira as part of a comprehensive configuration management solution.

  • Experience collaborating in a team environment.

  • Experience providing primary communication of technical information to management, customers, and other engineering team members.

  • Experience developing with XML, XSLT, and Xpath.

  • Experience developing documentation, particularly instructional and procedural documentation including user documentation or maintenance instructions.

  • Experience developing vector graphics or orthographic engineering drawings.

  • Experience utilizing engineering drawings and schematics to build or maintain hardware systems.

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
