Client Platform Engineer, AI & Automation

Experteer Overview In this AI-first role you will connect IT and Engineering to enable safe, scalable AI tool usage across Nextdoor. You’ll own identity, access, and governance for AI agents, track usage and costs, and partner with Security, Finance, and Engineering to streamline adoption. You’ll shape the standards for authentication, data scope, and tooling while maintaining a central registry and telemetry. This role offers meaningful impact by turning AI projects into dependable, governed platforms that empower teams. Compensation / Benefits * Design and operate identity, access, and credential lifecycle for AI agents (non-human and user-delegated) using Okta, OAuth 2.0, and OIDC; promote canonical authentication patterns * Build and run review processes for AI agents and connectors, covering pre-production surfaces, data scopes, blast radius, and vendor diligence * Maintain a centralized registry of AI agents and tooling with telemetry and adoption reporting (Datadog dashboards, vendor analytics) * Own governance and cost controls for AI tools (per-user/organization spend, multi-tenant licenses, quarterly reconciliations, monthly IT/Finance reviews) * Engage in in-person events and build cross-team relationships to support governance and adoption * Contribute to shaping IT guidelines for AI tool launches and ongoing operations Tasks * 5+ years in IT engineering, IAM security, or related ownership of production identity and access systems * Deep hands-on Okta administration experience (SSO/SAML/OIDC, SCIM, group rules, sign-on policies, access certification) * Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and workload identity patterns across Google Cloud and AWS * Proficiency in scripting for IT operations (Python, Bash); experience with CI/CD or scheduled jobs (GitHub Actions, cron) * Hands-on experience with AI development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, LangChain) * Familiarity with an observability platform (Datadog) and building dashboards/ingestion pipelines * Strong written communication and ability to author internal standards and runbooks Key requirements * hybrid work model * health plans including employee-only option * OneMedical membership * equity with quarterly vesting * varied benefits package * culture of inclusion
