Experteer Overview In this role you contribute to MITRE’s Defensive Cyber Operations by blending hands-on security work with AI-driven research to protect mission-critical systems. You will work with cybersecurity engineers to design and evaluate next-generation defenses, leveraging ML, large language models, and analytics for threat detection and adversary emulation. You’ll collaborate with government sponsors and cross-functional teams to improve SOC processes and build actionable security analytics. This is a mission-driven opportunity at a not-for-profit focused on national safety and security. Compensation / Benefits * Enhance adversary detection and network defense using domain expertise and data science * Develop AI-enabled cybersecurity tools for anomaly detection, behavioral analytics, malware analysis, and adversary emulation * Research and assess new AI techniques for defensive cyber missions * Apply MITRE ATT&CK to hunt adversaries and build TTP-based defenses * Create security analytics and dashboards with Splunk/Elastic and integrate new data feeds * Automate container environments via CI/CD * Advise the Federal Government as a trusted security partner Tasks * Experience in cybersecurity operations, threat hunting, detection engineering, malware analysis, or cyber deception * Active Top Secret US government security clearance; US citizenship * Educational/experience mix per policy: Bachelor’s with 8+ years, or Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years * Knowledge of cyber security operations and principles * Ability to obtain/maintain required clearance Key requirements * competitive benefits * exceptional professional development opportunities * collaboration and innovation culture * focus on mission impact * hybrid work arrangement
