Job description

Experteer Overview In this remote role, you will lead the design and execution of high-voltage substation physical layouts for utility-scale projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery. You work within a cross-functional Power Delivery team to translate client criteria into robust drawings and studies. You’ll tackle challenges in 69kV-500kV substations, influencing site layouts, grounding, protection interfaces, and 3D modeling. This position offers remote flexibility, professional growth, and a direct impact on grid reliability and efficiency. Compensation / Benefits * Lead and oversee substation physical design drawings (One Line, Three Line, General Arrangements, Electrical Details) * Develop and coordinate grounding, conduit, control cubicle, lightning protection, and illumination plans * Prepare engineering studies (AC Load, Illumination, Grounding, Lightning Shielding) and Bill of Materials * Coordinate with protection & controls, civil/structural, and drafting teams to ensure quality outputs * Support client meetings, technical discussions, and project planning * Participate in site visits and constructability reviews * Incorporate vendor information into designs and apply client standards * Ensure QA/QC processes and compliance with IEEE, NESC, NEC, and utility specs * Mentor junior engineers and designers * Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and knowledge Tasks * BS in Engineering (Electrical with Power Focus) * 2+ years of substation physical design experience for electric utilities * Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months Key requirements * Remote work * Flexible schedule * Tuition reimbursement * 401(k) matching * Employee Stock Purchase Plan * Volunteer opportunities
