Experteer Overview As Staff Software Engineer on the Orders Platform, you steer foundational architecture for the commerce stack, enabling hundreds of millions of transactions with reliability and scalability. You lead multi-team initiatives, define the order lifecycle strategy, and shape durable, auditable workflows. Compensation / Benefits * Lead multi-team initiatives to enhance reliability, scalability, and correctness of the Orders platform across checkout, payments, fulfillment, post-order workflows, and integrations * Define and drive the technical strategy for the order lifecycle, including order state models, guarantees, and service contracts * Architect and evolve event-driven, idempotent workflows for core order flows with strong observability and auditable histories * Collaborate with Payments, Fulfillment, Catalog, Ads, Fraud and Identity, Data, and Infrastructure to deliver durable platform capabilities * Modernize platform capabilities such as consistency models, multi-tenant abstractions, isolation, and secure integrations * Design platform features for agentic commerce, including policy-driven automated workflows and secure APIs * Elevate the technical bar through design reviews, coaching, hands-on code contributions, and cross-team launches Tasks * 10+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale backend/platform systems in production * Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives end-to-end (architecture to operations) * Strong foundation in distributed systems, SOA, high-volume APIs, with event-driven and idempotent patterns * Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python * Production experience with relational and NoSQL data stores * On-call ownership, SLOs/error budgets, incident management, and post-incident reviews * Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design, implementation, code review, or quality * Strong communication and collaboration with senior engineers, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders Key requirements * remote work flexibility * competitive compensation * new hire equity grant * annual equity refresh grants * flexible benefits package
