Job description

Python Backend Software Engineer We’re looking for a talented and passionate Python Backend Software Engineer to join our client’s growing engineering team. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, cloud-native applications that power their products and services. This is primarily a backend engineering role , but we’re looking for someone who enjoys working across the technology stack and is comfortable collaborating with frontend developers when needed. Experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and modern software engineering practices is essential. What You’ll Be Doing - Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend services using Python. - Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices. - Develop and maintain cloud-native applications within AWS. - Manage and automate infrastructure using Terraform. - Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end features. - Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. -

Requirements

Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making. - Review code and mentor other engineers where appropriate. - Troubleshoot, optimise, and improve existing applications. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. Essential Skills & Experience - Strong commercial experience with Python . - Experience building REST APIs and backend services. - Good understanding of AWS services (such as Lambda, ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM). - Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code. - Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases. - Experience with Git and collaborative software development. - Understanding of modern software engineering principles, testing, and CI/CD. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. Desirable Skills We’re particularly interested in candidates who also have experience with one or more of the following: - Java backend development.

  • TypeScript and JavaScript . - Modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue. - Docker and Kubernetes. - Event-driven architectures and messaging technologies. - NoSQL databases. - Serverless application development. - Monitoring and observability tools. - Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
