Job description
The Database Management department is responsible for database operations at the data centers of the German Pension Insurance. Our Database Transition team is responsible for planning and designing the Oracle databases for all pension insurance providers. As a central component of the IT architecture, we play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of pension transactions. Your Responsibilities
You will actively help design the highly available Oracle databases across multiple data centers, which includes:
- Collaborating on IT-related analyses as well as the development and implementation of concepts, standards, and guidelines for DRV Bund IT
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of the introduction of new Oracle products and creating the corresponding documentation
- Programming scripts to automate tasks in the database environment
- Monitoring and controlling IT processes, as well as supporting error analysis and regular updates for our Oracle databases and products
- Contribute to IT security and IT quality assurance measures and conduct training sessions
- Manage and initiate test environments
Requirements
- A college degree (bachelor’s, diploma) in IT or an equivalent qualification, e.g., an IT-specific certification, completed vocational training as an IT specialist, or comparable practical experience in the IT field
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and related products
- Initial practical experience in database administration
- Knowledge and experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving errors in Oracle databases, as well as in working with operating systems (Unix/Linux, Shell)
- Ideally, you already have experience operating high-availability databases on Engineered Systems / EXADATA, as well as experience with automation tools (such as Ansible and GitLab)
- Experience in project work, as well as in creating and managing documentation, is also desirable
- Business-level proficiency in spoken and written German is required for this position
- Proactive initiative and creativity, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills, round out your profile
