Principal Cloud Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will architect and operate scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructure to support enterprise apps, AI/data platforms, and modern DevOps environments. You will drive secure, resilient, and cost-conscious cloud solutions with a strong emphasis on AWS, IaC, observability, and reliability. You’ll lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor engineers, and improve production readiness and incident response in a fast-moving, modernization-driven environment. This is a chance to shape Bloom Energy’s cloud platform to enable mission-critical systems across energy and AI domains. Compensation / Benefits * Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud/hybrid infrastructure for enterprise apps, production workloads, AI/data platforms, and CI/CD * Architect highly available, secure, and cost-optimized solutions across cloud platforms with focus on AWS * Lead adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and CloudFormation * Develop cloud platform standards, reusable modules, and engineering patterns * Build observability capabilities (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, automated alerts) * Drive SRE practices including SLOs, error budgets, incident management, capacity planning, and reliability improvements * Lead production readiness reviews, RCA, performance optimization, resiliency planning, and operational risk assessments * Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps, automation, and GitOps * Integrate security, compliance, and controls into provisioning and deployment workflows * Implement automated remediation, rollback, guardrails, and self-healing patterns * Establish operational standards for monitoring, patching, change management, DR, and production support * Partner with Security, Compliance, Infrastructure, Application, and Engineering teams to align cloud platforms with governance requirements * Evaluate emerging cloud/automation/AI/ML capabilities to support modernization and scalability * Mentor cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure engineers; promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement * Participate in on-call rotations and incident escalation for critical systems Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Engineering or related field * 10+ years in cloud/infrastructure/DevOps, with 3+ years in senior/principal/lead role * Deep AWS expertise including cloud architecture, security, and production operations * Multi-cloud experience (Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud) preferred * Strong experience designing mission-critical production environments * Cloud networking expertise (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, firewalls, BGP) * Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) * CI/CD and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) * Kubernetes, containers, and modern platform patterns * Monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, CloudWatch) * Scripting/automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell) * IAM, security, encryption, compliance, resiliency governance * Experience with SRE, incident management, runbooks, and reliability programs * Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills * Proven leadership of large-scale cross-functional technical initiatives Key requirements * Medical, Dental, and Vision plans with large employer contribution * 401(k) with company match * Mental Health Support services * Legal services * virtual Physical Therapy * Fertility & Family Forming benefits
