Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer / Application Modernization Consultant with strong hands-on experience in enterprise Mainframe application development, analysis, maintenance, production support, and legacy modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM, along with enterprise job scheduling and Mainframe debugging tools. This role will support application analysis, enhancements, production support, and modernization/transformation initiatives across complex legacy environments., * Analyze, review, and assess existing Mainframe applications to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Perform application/code analysis and impact analysis to support legacy application modernization and transformation initiatives.
- Design, develop, test, enhance, and maintain COBOL-DB2-CICS applications.
- Develop, modify, and manage JCL jobs supporting batch processing and enterprise workflows.
- Work with Control-M and enterprise scheduling tools for job scheduling, monitoring, automation, and issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform detailed root-cause analysis.
- Implement application enhancements, defect fixes, performance improvements, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to support integrations with distributed systems, APIs, and downstream applications.
- Participate in application modernization, migration, transformation, and legacy technology initiatives.
- Perform application dependency and impact analysis for proposed changes.
- Follow established coding standards, performance best practices, security guidelines, and SDLC processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, application specifications, process flows, code-change documentation, and operational procedures.
- Support QA, UAT, deployment, release, and post-production validation activities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience working with enterprise Mainframe applications.
- Strong experience with COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
- Strong understanding of Mainframe batch processing and enterprise job scheduling.
- Hands-on experience with Control-M or similar enterprise scheduling platforms.
- Experience with Mainframe debugging and analysis tools such as Xpediter, File-AID, and Abend-AID.
- Strong experience in application maintenance, enhancement, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Experience performing application/code analysis, dependency analysis, and impact analysis.
- Exposure to legacy Mainframe modernization, transformation, migration, or application assessment initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Agile and SDLC-driven environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and business stakeholders., * Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or supply chain applications.
- Experience with Mainframe modernization or migration programs.
- Experience integrating Mainframe applications with distributed systems and APIs.
- Experience with additional enterprise scheduling, monitoring, or Mainframe analysis tools.
- Experience working with cross-functional development, QA, business, and infrastructure teams.
