Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer 2 at eBay, you will design and implement scalable, resilient distributed systems within the Value-Added Services platform. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure uptime, quality, and a consistent user experience across iOS, Android, and web clients. The role combines backend microservices with frontend UI work, driving performance and robustness at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design and implement scalable distributed systems and microservices * Produce well-documented design docs and participate in design/code reviews * Meet high quality standards by maintaining >80% unit test coverage and DoD criteria * Develop technical/domain expertise to solve product challenges * Analyze application status using PromQL with Sherlock for uptime and performance * Architect microservices using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot * Manage data with NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) and SQL databases * Establish a comprehensive testing framework using JUnit and TestNG * Create user-facing interfaces with JavaScript, React, and Marko for the Value-Added Services platform * Architect experience service layers in Java to ensure cross-platform consistency across iOS, Android, and web Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with 1 year of relevant experience * Experience designing and developing large-scale software using Java (1 year) * Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, OOP, and OOA/D * Experience building data-driven applications (RDBMS, NoSQL, ElasticSearch) * Experience designing and developing microservices (1 year) * Experience with REST APIs (1 year) and GraphQL (1 year) * Experience delivering in agile environments with TDD/CI/CD (1 year) * Spring/Spring Boot experience for microservices (1 year) * Experience with messaging systems (1 year) Key requirements * base salary and potential bonus * restricted stock units (RSUs) * medical benefits * 401(k) with company matching * paid time off (PTO) * parental leave
