Job description
The Senior Linux System Administrator is responsible for leading system administration activities. This position oversees the installation, configuration, maintenance, and integrity of computing systems and software. The role involves planning, ensuring long-term system requirements align with organizational objectives, and implementing system enhancements to improve performance and reliability., + Lead system administration activities across ARLEN and CARLEN networks.

Assign and manage staff workloads, provide direction, and evaluate performance.

Coordinate with local ARL IT leadership to align support efforts with new project needs and risk management requirements.

Ensure systems meet ARL performance, security, and reliability standards.

Install, configure, and maintain software and operating systems.

Implement operating system enhancements for improved performance and reliability.

Respond to and resolve complex system administration issues.

Conduct quality control and performance management efforts for optimal system uptime.
Requirements
-
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in systems administration roles

Education: Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience

Certifications (Required):
-
CompTIA Security+ CE or CompTIA Server+ CE
-
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
-
MCSA, MAC OS, or MCP
-
Must meet DoD 8750 and 8140 compliance requirements
