Job description

  • Lead client discovery and inception activities, defining data strategy, requirements and desired business outcomes.
  • Own the architecture and design of secure, scalable and resilient data platforms using Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into pragmatic solution architectures and delivery roadmaps.
  • Provide technical leadership across complex programmes, guiding consultants, engineers and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on data architecture, engineering, analytics, governance and Microsoft best practices.
  • Review and assure technical designs for security, performance, scalability, maintainability and alignment with client standards.
  • Guide the integration, deployment and successful adoption of modern data platforms within existing Azure environments.
  • Present architectural recommendations and solution demonstrations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to bids, proposals, solution estimates and other pre-sales activities.
  • Mentor colleagues and help develop reusable architecture patterns, delivery approaches and technical standards.
  • Stay current with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services and the wider data and analytics ecosystem., Experience in any of the following would be valuable, but we don’t expect applicants to have everything:
  • Microsoft Fabric architecture and implementation.
  • Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark or Python.
  • Delta Lake, lakehouse or medallion architecture.
  • Power BI semantic modelling and analytics.
  • Data governance, data quality or master data management.
  • Azure Machine Learning, predictive analytics or data science.
  • Architecture frameworks and design-assurance processes.
  • Supporting bids, pre-sales engagements and solution estimation.
  • Mentoring architects, consultants or engineers.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications.

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing enterprise data and analytics solutions in a client-facing consultancy, systems integrator or comparable environment.
  • Programme-level experience as a Solution, Data or Analytics Architect.
  • Experience owning solution architecture from discovery and high-level design through to implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of modern data architecture, data modelling, data integration and ETL/ ELT principles.
  • Hands-on experience with several Microsoft data technologies, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, Azure SQL or Azure Data Lake.
  • Experience designing data warehouses, lakehouses or large-scale analytical platforms.
  • A practical understanding of cloud security, governance, scalability, resilience and operational best practices.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience providing technical direction and assurance across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Active UK SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it., If you have strong Azure data architecture and consulting experience but don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still encourage you to apply.
