Job description

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Back End services using Node.js.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Develop secure, performant, and maintainable applications following best practices.
  • Collaborate with Front End developers to integrate user-facing components.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code.
  • Create unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Ensure solutions comply with government security, accessibility, and data protection standards.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Node.js.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
  • Knowledge of Express.js or NestJS.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.
  • Strong understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerisation.
  • Experience using Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and design patterns.
  • Experience writing automated tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
