Job description
JPMC is building a new engineering team supporting next-generation AI features and enhancements within the Chase Mobile App. This is a highly visible, fast-moving initiative requiring senior engineers with strong backend development expertise and modern cloud-native experience. The ideal candidate will bring deep Java and microservices expertise, along with hands-on experience in Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD, and exposure to AI-assisted software engineering. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable, production-grade applications.
- Lead backend-focused full-stack engineering initiatives using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and enhance microservices and event-driven applications using Kafka and related technologies.
- Design and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes and AWS.
- Develop automated testing and CI/CD solutions to improve delivery speed and quality.
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, debugging, and engineering guidance.
- Drive application resiliency, security, scalability, and operational stability.
- Contribute to architectural and technical decisions across the application lifecycle.
- Leverage approved AI-assisted engineering tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Establish appropriate validation, security, and responsible-AI practices when using AI-assisted development tools.
- Collaborate within Agile teams and influence engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Advanced Java development experience.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
- Hands-on Kafka experience.
- Experience with Cassandra/NoSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and software development lifecycle practices.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
- Experience with AWS/cloud technologies.
- Strong understanding of application resiliency, security, automation, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with AI/ML technologies or AI-assisted software development.
- Strong production support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Financial services/enterprise technology experience preferred.
Preferred
- GitHub/Microsoft Copilot experience.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Strong Spring Boot expertise.
- Experience with AI-enabled applications or engineering workflows.
Best Fit: Senior Java engineers who are backend-heavy, cloud-native, strong in microservices/Kubernetes/Kafka, and have some exposure to AI or AI-assisted development.
