Job description
An experienced AWS Cloud Architect is required to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise cloud solutions supporting critical federal programs. This role involves developing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures primarily on AWS, with secondary support for Azure. The architect will ensure compliance with FedRAMP Moderate security standards and serve as a technical subject matter expert, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud infrastructure, security, and automation strategies., * Design and document scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures utilizing AWS services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and networking components, with secondary support for Azure workloads.
- Develop and implement reference architectures and design patterns aligned with FedRAMP Moderate and NIST control standards.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts, including workload assessment, right-sizing, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud-native and hybrid solutions to optimize performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Support the development and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs), architecture diagrams, and other documentation necessary for Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
- Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code templates using Terraform or CloudFormation to enable automated, compliant deployment processes.
- Configure secure CI/CD pipelines, monitoring solutions, and containerization environments utilizing AWS-native tools and integrations such as Azure DevOps, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
- Architect secure identity management solutions, including multi-factor authentication, single sign-on (SSO), network firewalls, encryption, and data protection strategies.
- Implement site reliability engineering (SRE) practices and disaster recovery solutions to enhance system resilience.
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership to cloud engineering teams, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. (ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and architecture roles focusing on AWS.
- Hands-on expertise designing AWS solutions, including VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Transit Gateway, KMS, Control Tower, PrivateLink, Direct Connect, and VPN.
- Strong knowledge of networking, databases, storage, and container orchestration on AWS.
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS cloud-native security services like GuardDuty, Security Hub, and Inspector.
- Proven experience designing within FedRAMP Moderate or higher environments, with familiarity in NIST 800-53 and 800-171 standards.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, along with CI/CD pipeline development.
- Scripting expertise in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with serverless and cloud-native architectures including Lambda, API Gateway, and microservices.
- Working knowledge of hybrid/multi-cloud environments, especially with Azure, including VNets, Azure AD, SSO/MFA, ExpressRoute, and Site-to-Site VPN.
- Demonstrated ability supporting ATO and continuous monitoring efforts in government or regulated environments.
- Certification in AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional); AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional is preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
