Job description

The future of personal computing is being reimagined for agentic AI, and the software that brings it to life has to be fast, reliable, and delightful from the very first interaction. We are building a new class of Alexa-powered personal devices, and we need engineers who want to build the systems and experiences that hundreds of millions of customers will touch every day.

As a Software Development Engineer on the Personal Mobile Devices team, you will design, build, and ship the software that powers next-generation wearable devices and the agentic experiences that run on them. You will write production code across the stack - on-device, service, and AI integration layers - and own features end to end, from design through launch and operation. This is hands-on building at the intersection of consumer hardware, cloud services, and agentic AI, on a team shipping new-to-world products on tight timelines.

You will work closely with senior and principal engineers, applied scientists, product managers, and designers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped software. You will be given real ownership early, and the support to grow in your career.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and operate high-quality software components and features for personal device experiences, owning them from design through production.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews, raising the quality bar for yourself and the team.
  • Partner with senior engineers to translate product and design requirements into sound technical designs, making pragmatic trade-offs across performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
  • Debug and resolve issues across the stack - on-device software, backend services, and AI/agent integration layers - and improve the systems that surface them.
  • Contribute to operational excellence: build monitoring, alarming, and automation that keep services healthy, and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate across engineering, applied science, design, and product to ship features on schedule, communicating status and risks clearly.
  • Continuously learn - new tools, frameworks, and agentic AI capabilities - and bring that knowledge back to the team.

About the team Join a fast-paced, high energy, collaborative team working to define the future of Alexa powered Personal Devices! We can promise that you will work hard, do exciting work, and have the opportunity to invent and ship delightful devices and experiences for our customers, and in the process learn and grow.
