Job description

We’re a boutique digital marketing and web design agency serving local businesses and niche industry clients across the US. We build and maintain websites, run SEO campaigns, and manage digital marketing programs for a growing portfolio of clients.

We’re looking for a self-directed web developer who lives in WordPress and PHP, loves Shopify and Liquid and building somethings from nothing using APIs and n8n. You won’t have a manager looking over your shoulder on every task - you’ll own your queue, communicate proactively, and ship clean work. If you need constant direction to function, this isn’t the right fit. If you thrive with autonomy and like working across a variety of client projects, keep reading.

This role sits at the intersection of site builds, ongoing maintenance, and workflow automation. You’ll work alongside a small senior team and interface directly with agency leadership on anything client-facing or strategic.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain WordPress sites. Learn to love Elementor (even if it IS a bloated, code-heavy beast)
  • Support Shopify builds and ongoing store maintenance (product pages, theme edits, app integrations)
  • Handle PHP-level customizations, plugin troubleshooting, and database work in MySQL
  • Perform site migrations, hosting transitions, and CMS platform switches
  • Manage DNS, hosting configurations, SSL, and server-side setup on AWS and cPanel environments
  • Build and maintain N8N automation workflows - connecting tools, triggering actions, and reducing manual work
  • Implement on-page SEO fundamentals as directed by the SEO lead (schema markup, metadata, page structure)
  • Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, performance issues, and Core Web Vitals problems
  • Maintain and update a portfolio of hosted WordPress sites - security, plugins, uptime
  • Document your work clearly
  • Support Advertising team in creation of landing pages
  • Support SEO team in implementation of content and scheuma

MUST-HAVES

  • WordPress / Elementor - You’ve built real sites in it, not just tweaked templates. Send the examples.
  • PHP / LAMP stack - Comfortable reading and writing PHP, working with MySQL, and troubleshooting server environments.
  • Shopify - Theme customization, Liquid templating, app integrations. Migrations a plus.
  • Self-direction - You manage your own queue, ask smart questions when stuck, and don’t wait to be told what to do next.
  • US-based - Fully remote is fine, but you must be based in the United States and work US business hours.
  • N8N or equivalent workflow automation - You’ve built automations that connect real systems and reduce manual work. Zapier experience is fine but N8N proficiency is what we run.
  • WooCommerce mastery

NICE TO HAVES

  • AWS experience (EC2, S3, Route 53, CloudFront)
  • GoHighLevel (GHL) configuration and integrations
  • Experience in a multi-client agency environment
  • Webflow - basic comfort with the platform

WHAT THIS JOB ISN’T

  • A micromanaged role with daily standups and status check-ins
  • A React/Node/full-stack engineering position, but if you’ve got the chops, we’re all ears.
  • An offshore or nearshore position - US only, full stop
  • A role with a large team to hide behind - you’ll be one of a small number of people doing real work

Requirements

Do you have experience in Web development?, * 2-3 live sites you built or significantly developed - WordPress and/or Shopify preferred

  • A brief note (3-5 sentences) on your experience with N8N or other automation tools and one workflow you built that you’re proud of
