Job description

  • Senior Software Engineer role at a globally recognised payments technology organisation
  • C# and .NET focused on a high throughput, mission critical payment gateway processing millions of transactions daily
  • Remote first with access to a Belfast city centre office
  • Salary £65,000 - £70,000

Why This Organisation

Not every engineering role gives you the chance to work on software that genuinely cannot fail. This one does.

Our client is a globally recognised payments technology company processing billions of transactions annually across more than 175 countries. Their Belfast engineering team develops and maintains a high throughput payment gateway that handles millions of card transactions every single day, supporting customers from small businesses all the way through to 70,000 seat stadiums. One hundred percent uptime is not an aspiration here. It is the standard.

This is an organisation that takes engineering quality seriously because it has to. The systems are mission critical, the scale is significant, and the problems you would be working on are genuinely complex. If you are a senior engineer who wants your work to mean something and your skills to be tested properly, this is the kind of environment that delivers that.

The package backs it up too. Remote first working, 26 days annual leave increasing with service, medical, dental and life insurance, a matched pension of 5 to 8%, 26 weeks company paid maternity leave, an employee stock purchase plan and more.

The Role and What It Can Do For Your Career

This is a hands on Senior Software Engineer position at the heart of a high performing payments engineering team. You will design, build and maintain robust, scalable .NET applications and services, contribute to architectural and technical design discussions and work on high throughput, low latency systems where every line of code carries real weight.

What sets this role apart for your career is the combination of scale and craft. You will be working on a platform that processes millions of transactions daily, with 100% uptime as the baseline expectation. That forces a level of engineering rigour, around testing, code quality, performance and reliability, that most roles simply do not. The experience you build here translates directly into some of the most demanding engineering environments in the world.

You will also be part of a collaborative Agile team, contributing to code reviews, CI and CD pipelines and automated testing, with real input into how the engineering function continues to improve. This is not a role where you are handed tickets and left to get on with it.

Requirements

  • 4 or more years of software development experience
  • Strong server side development experience in C# and .NET
  • Experience building scalable web services and APIs
  • Solid experience with SQL Server or other relational databases
  • Experience working in a CI and CD environment using Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo or similar
  • Experience with automated testing including unit testing, BDD or SpecFlow
  • Good understanding of software design principles and OO design
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Must reside in Northern Ireland or commuting distance to Belfast, with the right to work in the UK on a permanent, full time basis

Benefits & conditions

Salary is £65,000 - £70,000 depending on experience. If this sounds like the right next step, please reach out to Nick Napier directly on LinkedIn or submit your CV via the link below. Do not sit on it.
