Job description

  • Design, develop and maintain high-quality web applications using C#, .NET and ASP.NET Core
  • Develop and maintain websites and digital platforms using Umbraco CMS
  • Build reusable Umbraco components, templates, content models and functionality
  • Develop both front-end and back-end functionality as part of full-stack solutions
  • Design, develop and consume RESTful APIs and web services
  • Integrate Umbraco and .NET applications with third-party platforms, APIs and business systems
  • Develop responsive, accessible and user-friendly front-end interfaces
  • Work with relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server
  • Maintain, enhance and modernise existing applications and legacy solutions
  • Diagnose and resolve complex application, performance and integration issues
  • Contribute to application architecture, technical design and development standards
  • Produce clean, maintainable, secure and well-documented code
  • Participate in code reviews and promote development best practice
  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Testers and other Developers throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Translate business and functional requirements into appropriate technical solutions
  • Support testing, deployment, release and production support activities
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced developers where appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, security, maintainability and scalability across our applications

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with C#, .NET, .NET Core and ASP.NET Core
  • Strong commercial experience with Umbraco CMS, including developing and supporting commercial Umbraco solutions
  • Full-stack web application development experience
  • Experience with MVC and modern web application architecture
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience designing, developing and consuming REST APIs and web services
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
  • Experience with Git and source control
  • Experience integrating APIs and third-party systems
  • Experience debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation
  • Strong experience with Umbraco CMS development and configuration
  • Experience with custom components, content models, document types, templates and views
  • Experience with dependency injection, custom controllers and services, and Umbraco APIs
  • Experience with packages, extensions, upgrades and migrations in Umbraco solutions
  • Experience with performance optimisation, security and permissions in Umbraco
  • Experience integrating external applications and services
  • Experience with recent versions of Umbraco, particularly Umbraco 10+, 13 or later, is highly advantageous
  • Experience with Azure and cloud-hosted applications is desirable
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines is desirable
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React or Vue is desirable
  • Experience with headless CMS architecture is desirable
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and integrations is desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Proactive approach to identifying risks, issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Willingness to share knowledge and support the wider development team

Benefits & conditions

We are PSP IT, a growing technology business based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, specialising in digital transformation, bespoke software development, enterprise applications, and the ongoing support and modernisation of business-critical systems. We work closely with our clients to understand their challenges and deliver robust, scalable, and effective technology solutions. This is a 6-month contract role, possibly leading to permanent, within our Development team. The role is primarily office-based, with hybrid working considered for the right applicant. We offer the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects across bespoke software, digital transformation, and customer-facing platforms, with real influence over technical solutions, development standards, and the way applications are designed and delivered. The salary is up to Β£50,000 per year.
