Job description

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance ( . An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. About the role As a Data Scientist, you’ll help unlock the value hidden within some of the UK’s most diverse and complex datasets. Working alongside experienced technical specialists, you’ll apply data science, advanced analytics, machine learning and emerging AI techniques to solve real-world challenges that have genuine operational and societal impact. You’ll work across a broad range of customer and business problems, helping transform data into actionable insight, supporting evidence-based decision making and contributing to innovative solutions that create measurable value. No two assignments are likely to be the same. You could find yourself evaluating emerging AI technologies, developing classification models, exploring opportunities for automation, building analytical solutions or helping stakeholders understand complex information through clear and meaningful insight. This role requires DV Clearance and will be onsite 5 days a week in either London, Manchester, Ipswich or Cheltenham. What you’ll be doing

  • Apply Data Science, Machine Learning and AI techniques to transform complex data into actionable insight and measurable outcomes.
  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand complex cyber and network problems, define clear problem statements and identify where data science can add value.
  • Identify, acquire, understand and combine relevant datasets from cloud, network and security environments.
  • Analyse large-scale telecoms, DNS, network and cyber datasets to uncover patterns, risks, anomalies and opportunities for improved threat detection.
  • Develop data science capabilities such as machine learning models, anomaly detection, graph analytics, big data processing pipelines, visualisations and reporting.
  • Use tools such as Python, SQL and distributed data processing technologies to build scalable analysis and reusable capability.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear insight, recommendations, reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, cyber specialists and product teams to take ideas from exploration through to practical delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience using Python, R or similar tools for analysis, modelling, visualisation or automation.
  • An understanding of core data science techniques such as exploratory data analysis, statistical reasoning, machine learning, summarisation and visualisation.
  • The ability to work with complex or messy datasets and turn them into useful insight.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data using tools such as Apache Spark, cloud platforms or distributed processing environments.
  • Exposure to cyber security, malware, DNS, networking, telecoms data or threat intelligence.
  • Experience developing models or analysis beyond notebooks into reusable pipelines, services or production-ready capability.
