Job description
This is an opportunity to design, build and own a modern enterprise data platform from day one, shaping the future of data, analytics and decision-making for a fast-growing technology business operating in a highly regulated and data-rich environment. We’re looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer who thrives on creating scalable solutions, influencing technical direction and delivering genuinely business-critical outcomes. You’ll be the driving force behind the evolution of a Microsoft Fabric-powered data ecosystem, working closely with senior leadership to establish architecture, engineering standards and long-term strategy. What You’ll Be DoingOwn the Data PlatformDesign and implement a modern Microsoft Fabric data platformLead the journey from early-stage capability to a fully production-ready environmentDefine scalable architecture patterns across warehouse, lakehouse and analytics layersMake key technical decisions that balance immediate delivery with future growth Engineer Robust Data SolutionsBuild automated, resilient data pipelinesIntegrate data from databases, APIs, SaaS platforms and business applicationsDevelop scalable ingestion, transformation and orchestration processesImplement monitoring, quality controls and operational excellence Deliver Business ValueCreate trusted semantic models and Power BI solutionsTransform fragmented reporting into governed, reusable data productsEnable executive reporting, operational analytics and future advanced analytics use casesEstablish consistent business metrics and data definitions Drive Best PracticeIntroduce CI/CD, source control and automated deployment processesImplement governance, security and access control frameworksEstablish documentation, standards and support modelsShape the future roadmap of the organisation’s data capability
Requirements
You’ll likely bring: Significant experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering or a similar role Experience building production data warehouses, lakehouses or modern cloud data platforms Strong Microsoft Fabric expertise, including some of:OneLakeFabric LakehouseFabric WarehouseData FactoryNotebooksPower BISemantic ModelsDataflows Advanced SQL skills Python and/or PySpark experience Strong dimensional modelling and data warehousing knowledge Experience building enterprise data pipelines and integrations Power BI development expertise, including DAX and performance optimisation Experience with Git, CI/CD and modern engineering practices Strong understanding of security, governance and data quality Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
