Job description
Stiltz Homelifts is looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing data and analytics team. You’ll help maintain and improve the data infrastructure that powers genuine business decisions and drives next generation commercial workflows. Working as part of a small, cross-functional tech team, maintaining data pipelines and dbt (Data Build Models), writing SQL to answer real business questions.
This is a hands-on SQL and dbt role with visible impact across the whole business from sales to operations, supporting business decisions with data it can trust.
What you’ll be doing
- Maintain and improve data pipelines feeding our data warehouse
- Build and improve dbt models including staging layers, business logic transforms, and reporting-ready marts
- Answer business questions with clear SQL, presenting findings clearly to non-technical colleagues who can act on them
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports that are used and trusted by the wider organisation
- Implement and monitor critical data quality tests, working closely with our NetSuite and infrastructure teams
- Ensuring technical documentation and business definitions current and accessible
- Write clean, well-tested code with safe deployment in mind
- Use Git version control consistently and logically, as part of a collaborative workflow
Requirements
- Expert-level SQL (joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs)
- Experience with dbt (or similar tools) in a production or near-production environment
- Strong experience with Git and version control
- Demonstrable experience with SQL, pipelines, or data transformations
- Able to interpret data, not just query it, spotting anomalies and explaining insights clearly
- Proven experience of testing and validating code
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information with non-technical colleagues
- Self-motivated and commercially aware
- A proactive, logical approach to problem solving and a genuine appetite to learn
- Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field
- Active interest in AI and emerging tech
Bonus points if you have:
- BI tool experience (Power BI, Looker, or Tableau) in a commercial setting
- Basic Python for scripting or extending data models
- Exposure to NetSuite ERP Administration and data structures
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
Benefits & conditions
- Competitive salary range £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
- 25 days holiday + 8 statutory bank holidays + 1 extra day off for your birthday!
- Life assurance + critical illness cover
- Pension scheme
- Company bonus scheme
- Enhanced cash back health scheme + wellbeing support
- Employee referral scheme
- Employee discounts
- Cycle to work scheme
- Fully supported induction and ongoing training
