Accessioning Technician I

The Accessioning Technician I will be responsible for the accurate and timely entry of various types of patient information into databases. This includes assisting accessioning staff with entry of client orders for testing (accessioning) and entry of other pertinent information in databases, as requested.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00am-4:00pm, rotating Saturdays

Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Follow all standard operating procedures specific to assigned department/laboratory, which may include, but is not limited to, the following:
• Receive and open packages of patient specimens for accessioning;
• Accession samples into clinical database;
• Enter/scan all relevant patient/institutional data into database(s) and ensure accuracy., Awkward/forceful/repetitive (arms above shoulder, bent wrists), Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day), Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day), Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday), Lift, carry, push or pull weights of more than 20 pounds/9 kilos on a regular/daily basis, Routine work with chemicals, Work in noisy environment, Work requiring repeated bending, stooping, squatting or kneeling, Work with human blood or other potentially infectious materials

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or college coursework.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
