Job description
As the Digital Product Owner - Unified Catalog within the Rental and Used team at Caterpillar, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of the Unified Catalog platform, primarily driven through PIM (Product Information Management) systems.
You will be responsible for enabling a single, consistent, and scalable product data foundation across digital platforms such as rent.cat.com and Cat Rental Store (CRS 2.0). This includes managing product hierarchies, attributes, taxonomy, and data integration across upstream and downstream systems.
Working closely with engineering, CMS, analytics, marketing, and dealer teams, you will ensure that product data is accurate, complete, and structured to support seamless customer experiences, dealer operations, and digital growth initiatives.
What You Will Do:
Product Strategy & Roadmap

Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for Unified Catalog and PIM capabilities

Align catalog initiatives with enterprise digital strategy, content ecosystem (CMS), and Rental & Used business objectives

Identify opportunities to improve product data quality, scalability, and reuse across platforms, + Define and enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and completeness requirements

Monitor and improve data accuracy, consistency, and coverage across catalogs
Backlog & Delivery Execution

Own and prioritize the Unified Catalog / PIM product backlog

Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and data requirements

Partner with engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable catalog capabilities

Ensure releases align with business priorities and deliver measurable value
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Engineering (PIM, integration, platform teams)

Marketing and SEO teams

Analytics and reporting teams

Dealer and business stakeholders

Partner with analytics teams to enable reporting and visibility into catalog performance and gaps
Requirements
-
Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.

Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
Considerations For Top Candidates:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or related field

Proven experience in digital product management or product ownership
-
Experience working with PIM systems or structured product data platforms
-
Product data modeling and taxonomy
-
Data governance and lifecycle management
-
Proven ability to work across engineering, content (CMS), and business teams
-
Experience managing cross-platform dependencies and integrations
-
Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable deliverables
-
Experience with PIM platforms such as Akeneo, inRiver, or similar enterprise systems
-
Understanding of CMS (AEM) integration with PIM for content and product experiences
-
Familiarity with CPC, syndication layers, and product data distribution models
-
Experience supporting PLP/PDP, search, and filtering experiences
-
Knowledge of SEO and how product data impacts discoverability
-
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM preferred)

Exposure to analytics tools and data quality reporting frameworks
