  • create visualizations of high dimensional data in offline and interactive online environments, including but not limited to dashboards, data analytic tools, and data stories and
  • collaborate closely with our research scientists and our communications team on the conception and construction of data visualizations.

Requirements

Are you passionate about turning complex data into clear, engaging visuals? Do you enjoy collaborating with scientists and communicators to bring insights to life? Then you might be the perfect fit for our Visuals team!, We are looking for a creative and skilled individual who is passionate about data visualization and eager to transform complex data into clear, compelling visual stories.

We’re seeking someone who brings:

  • Proven experience in front-end development of customized interactive data visualizations
  • Strong programming skills in 3D graphics (e.g., Three.js, WebGL) and/or experience working with large or complex datasets
  • Solid understanding of data visualization principles and information design
  • Sense of aesthetics in visual presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Creative, proactive, self-organized, and team-oriented personality

It would be great if you also have any of these:

  • Experience in producing animated videos for science communication
  • Experience in print and/or graphic design for visual communication
  • Exposure to immersive technologies (AR/VR)
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, e.g., data journalism, information visualization, graphic design, or computer science

Benefits & conditions

We offer a full-time position (40 hours/week) based in Vienna, with a minimum gross annual salary of € 49.000 negotiable depending on your experience and qualifications. You will join a dynamic, creative, and internationally oriented work environment that values openness and collaboration.

As part of our team, you will benefit from Austrian social insurance coverage (including health and pension), five weeks of paid vacation, and the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary setting. We offer flexible working hours and family-friendly policies to support a healthy work-life balance. The position is providing excellent opportunities for personal and professional development in a vibrant scientific community.

About the company

The Complexity Science Hub (CSH) is Europe’s research center for the study of complex systems. We derive meaning from data from a range of disciplines - economics, medicine, ecology, and the social sciences - as a basis for actionable solutions for a better world. Established in 2015, we have grown to over 75 researchers, driven by the increasing demand to gain a genuine understanding of the networks that underlie society, from healthcare to supply chains. Through our complexity science approaches linking physics, mathematics, and computational modeling with data and network science, we develop the capacity to address today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.
