Job description

We are seeking a Senior GCP Testing & Release Management Lead to support a regulated, enterprise-scale Google Cloud Platform (GCP) rollout. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in GCP, release management, testing/quality governance, and enterprise change management. This role will lead engineering governance across GCP platform and onboarding initiatives, ensuring that releases are safe, predictable, well-tested, fully documented, and audit-ready. The candidate will work closely with platform engineering, IAM, networking, security/compliance, application, and operations teams., * Own end-to-end release management and governance for GCP platform and onboarding changes, including release calendars, change approvals, go/no-go decisions, rollback criteria, and hypercare.

  • Define and enforce testing and quality gates for GCP and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) changes.
  • Establish test strategies, regression coverage requirements, environment promotion standards, and peer-review practices.
  • Lead release readiness assessments and post-release validation activities, including cutover checklists, smoke testing, monitoring verification, and release-window incident triage.
  • Establish and maintain standards for release documentation and evidence collection, including change records, test results, approvals, and deployment traceability.
  • Ensure release processes and documentation meet enterprise governance, risk, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate dependencies across IAM, networking, security, compliance, GCP platform engineering, application development, and operations teams.
  • Drive timely decision-making, issue resolution, escalation, and cross-functional communication throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Identify recurring release defects, testing gaps, and process inefficiencies and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation of release and quality-control checks.
  • Define and validate operational handoffs, including runbooks, support models, SLAs, knowledge-base documentation, and production-readiness criteria.
  • Ensure all teams and supporting processes are fully prepared for production deployment and ongoing operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in release management, testing, quality engineering, engineering governance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on or governance-level experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Proven experience managing enterprise release management and production deployment processes.
  • Strong understanding of software testing, regression testing, quality gates, and release readiness.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and associated testing/review practices.
  • Experience working in regulated or highly governed enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of change management, deployment traceability, approvals, and audit evidence.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical teams and managing complex dependencies.
  • Strong experience with go/no-go decisions, rollback planning, cutover, hypercare, and post-release validation.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, security, compliance, infrastructure, application, and operations teams., * Experience supporting large financial services or banking environments.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale GCP migrations or cloud transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment controls, and release automation.
  • Experience establishing or improving engineering governance and operational controls.
  • Experience with incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
